Another week of Fitness! Do you lift weights?

If you are into fitness weight training should definitely have a role in your work outs. There are tonnes of great benefits to lifting weights.

A huge myth with lifting weights is that you will start to look like a bodybuilder, that you will gain bulk muscle. That may just be an insult to body builders! They do a lot more than add a 5 lbs dumbbell to their workout routine. They also have a special diet that aids in building a shit tonne of muscle.

Besides the fact that the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn at rest, lifting weights increases bone density: If you are in you 20s or 30s this may not matter too much, but it would be great to take care of your bones before they may become an issue.

Another week of Fitness! Do you love to sweat?

 

This week I didn’t do as many regimented programs as I would have liked, however I was still sweating! I had moved everything from my top floor to the main floor and the basement. Then the next day I did it all in reverse. My legs had a nice burn to them for the day after :)

I would recommend signing up for a Fitocracy account. There is nothing better than finishing a workout and then “leveling up”. Challenge yourself to get more points every time you workout.

What is your favourite fitness activity to sweat to?
I really love dancing. Whether it’s to a workout dvd or just turning on the music and making a fool out of myself for my child’s entertainment.

Moxie Thursdays #1

If you have read my blog at all you know that I am passionate about being comfortable in your own skin. You will also know that it is a great peeve of mine that weight is the end all and be all of fitness. I’m not against fitness, eating healthy, or being active. I just don’t think that being healthy means being skinny, or that being fat means unhealthy.

That being said I have recently been inspired to kick up my fitness routine! I am going to able to catch up with my son as he gets older and not have to pound back coffee to do it.

What are your Fitness Goals?
My goal is to walk/jog/run 5k. I am doing the Zombie Run 5k Training program, so I am hoping I get ‘er done when the training program has run its course. Please let me know in the comments. Remember that everyone’s goals and journeys are different! Respect and encourage.
